DAY 2 — MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEXT ONE

MAKE ROOM FOR THE NEXT ONE
When a family discovers they’re expecting a new baby, something begins to change.
They start preparing a room.
They purchase things they’ll need.
They begin rearranging their lives.
The baby hasn’t arrived yet, but preparation has already begun.
Why?
BECAUSE EXPECTATION PRODUCES PREPARATION!
Now imagine if we approached the mission of the Church with that same expectation.
What if we genuinely believed that someone else was about to encounter Jesus Christ?
Another son.
Another daughter.
Another family whose future could be transformed by the gospel.
In Acts chapter 2, about three thousand souls received the Word and were baptized.
But notice what happened next.
The believers didn’t simply celebrate the number of people who responded.
They continued in the apostles’ doctrine, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer.
They became part of a growing community of faith!
Salvation was the beginning of their journey, not the end.
And that teaches us something important.
If we’re believing God to bring people into His Church, we must also prepare to love them, welcome them, and help them grow.
Sometimes we become so focused on who is already here that we forget to make room for those who haven’t arrived.
But somewhere there is another person who needs Jesus.
We may not know their name.
We may not know their story.
But we can begin preparing our hearts today.
Because making room isn’t just about having another empty seat.
IT’S ABOUT HAVING A HEART READY TO RECEIVE SOMEBODY!
We cannot save anyone through our own efforts.
But we can prepare to love the people God brings.
Expectation produces preparation!
REFLECT
Am I genuinely expecting God to bring new people into His Church?
Is my heart prepared to welcome someone whose background, struggles, or story may be different from mine?
TODAY’S STEP
Think about how you can help someone feel welcomed and connected at church.
This week, intentionally reach out to someone you don’t know well.
Introduce yourself, learn their name, and show genuine interest in their life.
Make room for the next one!
PRAYER
Father, thank You for every life You are drawing toward Jesus Christ. Help me develop a heart that expects and prepares for others to experience Your grace. Remove anything in me that would prevent someone from feeling loved and welcomed. Make me willing to encourage, serve, and walk alongside those who are growing in faith. In Jesus’ name, amen.
