DAY 1 — THE GOD OF ADDITION
ACTS 2:47 (KJV)
“And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
THE GOD OF ADDITION
There is something exciting about watching things grow.
A family welcomes another child.
A business begins to flourish.
A farmer sees new life breaking through the ground.
But when was the last time we became excited about somebody coming to know Jesus Christ?
Not another person filling a seat.
Somebody experiencing the transforming power of salvation!
In Acts chapter 2, the Holy Ghost had been poured out, Peter preached the gospel, and about three thousand souls received the Word.
But notice what verse 47 declares:
“AND THE LORD ADDED!”
Peter preached.
The believers prayed.
The Church witnessed.
But God was doing the saving!
Sometimes we become so focused on our abilities, resources, and limitations that we forget who possesses the power to transform a life.
Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 3:6:
“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.”
We plant.
We water.
BUT GOD GIVES THE INCREASE!
The God who saved three thousand on Pentecost hasn’t lost His power.
The God who transformed Saul of Tarsus is still able to transform lives today.
HE IS STILL MIGHTY TO SAVE!
Perhaps there’s someone you’ve been praying for.
A son. A daughter. A spouse. A friend.
Someone whose life seems so far from God that you’ve begun wondering whether they’ll ever change.
Don’t stop believing.
You cannot save them, but you can pray, love, and share the gospel.
And you can trust God to do what only He can do.
We don’t do the adding—but we serve the God who does!
REFLECT
Have I allowed my limitations to weaken my expectation of what God can do?
Who is one person I need to begin believing God for again?
TODAY’S STEP
Identify one person who needs Jesus Christ.
Write down their name and begin praying specifically for their salvation.
Ask God to open opportunities for you to demonstrate His love and share the gospel.
Believe God for the next one!
PRAYER
Father, thank You that You are still mighty to save. Restore my expectation for lives to be transformed. Help me look beyond my limitations and trust Your power. Place someone on my heart today who needs Jesus, and make me a faithful witness of Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
